Executive Director’s Letter: March 2010

The Winter Meeting was successful despite the winter weather. All the speakers were able to show up and 95% of the registrants. We thank everyone for traveling through the weather to attend. I would also like to thank all the exhibitors for their attendance. With- out their participation, we could not have the ability to provide outstanding CE. So when you see your reps, PLEASE thank them and let them know how much we appreciate them.

Dr. Damian Stroderd did an excellent job putting together the program. He made my job easy and I look forward to working with him this upcoming year as he serves the Association as President. During the meeting, Dr. David Blount from Fort Smith was awarded 2010 Veterinarian of the Year. We are very proud of Dr. Blount. He certainly deserves the honor. He is very dedicated to the veterinary profession and to the Arkansas Veterinary Medical Association. We had an excellent Pet of the Year. Dash. Please read the article about Dash and Tommy. That is a great statement of the bond between a man and his dog.

I would like to thank Dr. Renee’ LaVergne for his leadership over the past year. He watched out for the Association and led us well. Thank you Dr. LaVergne for your service and your concern for the veterinary profession. The 2011 Membership Directories will be printed soon (I promise) so keep your eye out for them. If you have not renewed your 2011 dues, you still can and you will be included in the Directory. Also, please remember to donate to the Foundation. The Foundation is doing GREAT things, but we need your support. Please donate.Call me if you have questions or need the donation material. THE SUMMER MEETING IS BACK ON THIS YEAR!!! Mark your calendars for July 29-31 in Branson, MO at the Hilton Branson Convention Center. This is located across the street from Branson Landing. So mark your calendars and plan for a family get away. More details to come.

Happy Spring,
Maggie Milligan
