Lead Veterinarian – General Practice

We are seeking an experienced, compassionate, and motivated veterinarian to serve as the Lead Veterinarian for our general practice. This position is ideal for a DVM who enjoys practicing high-quality medicine while also helping guide the medical team, support staff development, and contribute to the continued growth of the practice.

Responsibilities
-Provide comprehensive medical, surgical, and preventative care for small-animal patients.
-Perform wellness examinations, sick-patient examinations, diagnostics, routine surgeries, dental procedures, and other general-practice services.
-Develop appropriate diagnostic and treatment plans based on each patient’s individual needs.
-Clearly communicate diagnoses, recommendations, treatment options, costs, and follow-up care with pet owners.
-Maintain accurate and timely medical records.
-Provide medical leadership and guidance to associate veterinarians, veterinary technicians, assistants, and support staff.
-Help establish and maintain consistent medical standards and protocols throughout the practice.
-Serve as a resource for more complicated medical cases and support collaborative case management when needed.
-Help mentor and develop veterinary team members while encouraging continued learning and professional growth.
-Work closely with the Practice Manager and leadership team to improve patient care, client experience, workflow, efficiency, and overall practice performance.
-Assist in identifying opportunities to grow services and increase patient visits while maintaining excellent standards of care.
-Support appropriate scheduling, case flow, and utilization of the veterinary team.
-Promote a respectful, positive, accountable, and team-oriented culture.
-Maintain all applicable veterinary licensing, continuing-education, controlled-substance, safety, and regulatory requirements.

The ideal candidate is a confident veterinarian who enjoys both medicine and leadership. We are looking for someone who can build strong relationships with clients and staff, make sound medical decisions, communicate effectively, and help create consistency throughout the practice.

Candidates should have:

Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM or VMD) degree.
Current or ability to obtain an Arkansas veterinary license.
Strong general-practice medical and surgical skills.
Excellent communication and client-service skills.
A collaborative leadership style and willingness to mentor others.
Strong clinical judgment and commitment to high-quality patient care.
Previous leadership experience is preferred but not required for the right candidate.
