Position Location: Little Rock, AR
Position Type: Associate Veterinarian
Associate Veterinarian — Full-Time or Part-Time
Cantrell Animal Clinic | Little Rock, Arkansas
Privately owned veterinary practices are becoming harder to find. Cantrell Animal Clinic is proud to be one of them.
We are looking for a full-time or part-time associate veterinarian to join our thriving three-doctor small-animal practice. You would work alongside Dr. Stacey Greathouse, Dr. Don Barnett, and Dr. Colleen McCarthy, each of whom brings different experience, interests, and strengths to the clinic, as well as Micheal Greathouse, Certified Veterinary Technologist.
Cantrell Animal Clinic has cared for pets in Little Rock since 1963. We are an independent, family-owned practice with deep roots in our community. Many of our clients have trusted us with generations of their pets, and preserving those relationships matters to us.
What makes us different
We are small enough that your voice will matter. You will know the people you work with, have direct access to the practice owner, and have room to develop your own interests and influence how the practice grows.
We care about practicing good medicine, but we also care about the people practicing it. We believe veterinarians should be able to ask for help, take care of their mental health, and have a life outside of work.
Our clinic is warm, collaborative, and genuinely welcoming. We are committed to maintaining an inclusive environment where employees, clients, and families of every background and identity are treated with kindness and respect.
We want our doctors to practice thoughtful, individualized medicine and build real relationships with clients.
About the practice
Cantrell Animal Clinic is a busy, full-service small-animal hospital offering:
Preventive and wellness care
Internal medicine and senior care
Soft-tissue and orthopedic surgery
Dentistry
Digital radiography and in-house ultrasound
Acupuncture
Urgent and same-day care when availability allows
Grooming services
Our surgical caseload includes routine procedures as well as cystotomies, mass removals, abdominal exploratories, splenectomies, cesarean sections, orthopedic procedures, and dental procedures.
Our regular hours are Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. We are also open from 7:30 a.m. to noon on the first Saturday of each month.
Who we’re looking for
We welcome both experienced veterinarians and new graduates. A great fit for our team is someone who:
Holds or is eligible to obtain an Arkansas veterinary license
Practices compassionate, thoughtful medicine
Communicates well with clients and coworkers
Values collaboration while also being comfortable managing cases independently
Treats support staff with respect and recognizes the importance of the entire veterinary team
Wants to continue learning and growing
Shares our commitment to creating a welcoming environment for everyone
We are happy to support a doctor who wants to develop a particular professional interest.
Responsibilities
The associate veterinarian will:
Perform comprehensive examinations and develop diagnostic and treatment plans
Provide preventive, medical, surgical, and dental care within their experience and comfort level
Clearly explain recommendations, options, and costs to clients
Maintain timely and accurate medical records
Work collaboratively with our veterinarians, veterinary technicians, assistants, and client-service team
Help manage urgent cases during scheduled clinic hours
Participate in the continued growth and development of the practice
New graduates will receive mentorship and will not be expected to know everything on day one. Experienced veterinarians will have the independence to practice medicine while still having a team available for consultation and support.
Compensation and benefits
Full-time base salary is $100,000–$120,000, based on experience. Part-time compensation will be based on experience and the agreed-upon schedule.
Benefits for eligible employees include:
Negotiable sign-on bonus
Health-insurance stipend
Paid mental-health days
Paid continuing education
Paid professional licensure and applicable membership fees
Paid time off
Employee discounts
Flexible full-time or part-time scheduling
Opportunities for professional growth and leadership
Specific scheduling, compensation, and benefit details will be discussed openly during the interview process.
Come grow with us
This is a great opportunity for a veterinarian who wants to practice high-quality medicine without losing the personal side of veterinary care. We have been part of the Little Rock community for more than 60 years, and we are excited about where the clinic is going next. We would love to find someone who wants to help shape that future with us.
